Recap: Off their come-from-behind win on Monday night at San Francisco, the Giants hosted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and looked to win two games in a row for the first time since 2016. It proved to be a big game for rookie running back Saquon Barkley, who carried 27 times for 142 yards and two scores and also caught a six-yard touchdown pass. Eli Manning missed on just one of his 18 pass attempts and threw for 231 yards and two scores. But he was sacked four times. Meanwhile, a much-maligned Giants’ defense did give up 510 yards but managed four interceptions, one of those returned for a touchdown by linebacker Alec Ogletree.

Next Week: Big Blue heads to the City of Brotherly Love looking to avoid another sweep at the hands of the defending Super Bowl champions. When last the Giants and Eagles met, Philadelphia rolled to a 34-13 Thursday night win at MetLife Stadium in Week 6. New York has dropped four straight in this series.

Playoff hopes: The Giants held on for a win but still have a long ways to go even to get back to the .500 mark. There’s simply too many teams for this club to leap frog not only within the division but the conference as well. So could two victories in the span of seven days catapult Pat Shurmur’s squad to the role of spoiler?
