NBA Power Rankings: How far will the Warriors fall?
By Ian Levy
It continues to be the same story for the Hornets — solid wins, close losses, a .500 record but with one of the best point differentials in the entire league. A big loss to the Cavaliers was a blemish this week but they followed it up with a close loss to the 76ers and a five-point win over the Celtics. The projections at 538 give the Hornets 67 percent odds of making the playoffs and currently project them to finish with the seventh-best record in the East.
Whatever the Hornets have accomplished this season, it’s been driven by Kemba Walker. He followed up his 63 points against the 76ers with 43 against Boston. For the season, Walker is averaging 29.6 points, 6.1 assists and 4.4 rebounds, shooting 38.9 percent on over 10 3-point attempts per game. Maybe it’s time to start talking about him as a dark-horse MVP candidate?
