Denver Broncos-Bradley Chubb

The Broncos defense has struggled to maintain their lofty standards this season. You can’t blame the pass rush though. Bradley Chubb and Von Miller have combined to give Vance Joseph 19 sacks from the defensive end position through 10 games.

Even though Miller has one more sack than his rookie teammate, Chubb gets the nod because he plays slightly better football against the run. Opponents typically try to run at Miller to neutralize his aggression off the edge. When they try to employ that tactic against Chubb the results are not good for the offense.

The scary thing about Chubb is that he’s just scratching the surface of what he’s capable of at the professional level. He is only going to be tougher for tackles to block once he diversifies his set of pass rushing moves. Right now, he’s getting by largely on athleticism and strength.

The Broncos aren’t headed to the playoff this season, but they have to feel good about Chubb falling into their lap in April’s draft. He’s got a legitimate chance to have a career as good as Miller’s. That’s quite a compliment for an edge rusher in the Mile High City.
