Jacksonville Jaguars RB Carlos Hyde

The Jacksonville Jaguars acquired Carlos Hyde, a former second-round pick, from the Cleveland Browns earlier this year for a mere fifth-round pick, as Cleveland GM John Dorsey simply wanted to force his previously incompetent coaching staff to play Nick Chubb and Duke Johnson more. Hyde, while far from a standout at the running back position, is a solid player, and it could be his time to shine in the Jaguars offense this week.

Jacksonville will be without superstar running back Leonard Fournette in Week 13, as the former No. 4 overall pick got himself suspended for punching Buffalo Bills edge rusher Shaq Lawson in the third quarter of Jacksonville’s loss. Fournette was rolling before the incident, and while Hyde isn’t quite as talented as Fournette, he could still make things happen on the ground.

Going forward, the Jags must lean on their running game with Blake Bortles being Blake Bortles. Although T.Y. Yeldon did a solid job in Fournette’s absence due to a hamstring injury earlier this season, Hyde figures to get more early-down carries and has more touchdown upside as a 6’0″, 229-pound beast.

Hyde had five rushing touchdowns this season, which offsets a meager 3.4 yards per carry average. Though he struggled on his 10 rushing attempts against a stingy Buffalo defense, he was quite good in the Jaguars previous game, running for 44 yards on eight attempts. He’s someone to monitor in fantasy leagues this week.
