The Oakland Raiders lost their grip on the first overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft two weeks ago, when they went into Arizona and beat the Cardinals on the road. While the win means that they likely will not be getting Nick Bosa to replace Khalil Mack on the edge, their consolation prize is nothing to shake your head at.

Clelin Ferrell would have been a top pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, but decided to head back to Clemson to pursue a second national title. While it remains to be seen whether or not his team can beat the Alabama Crimson Tide for the second time in three years, one thing is for sure, he is lock to go early in the first round next April.

On the Raiders, Ferrell would join a very young, and talented defensive line, one that should only get better as the years go on. Guys like PJ Hall and Maurice Hurst have been solid in their rookie season, and fellow rookie Arden Key is going to be a very good edge rusher with more experience.

In Paul Guenther’s 4-3 scheme, Ferrell could come in and start right away, giving the Raiders some serious talent up front for years to come. It looks really bad in Oakland right now, but they have a ton of cap space entering the 2019 offseason, and hold three first round picks. Ferrell would be a nice way to get the party started on draft day.
