2019 NFL Mock Draft: Jaguars select Drew Lock
By Brad Weiss
The New York Giants lost a game they should not have this past weekend, as they dominated the Philadelphia Eagles in the first half by feeding their 2018 first round pick. Saquon Barkley was selected by the Giants with the No. 2 overall pick back in April, and the plan was to utilize him to get Eli Manning back to the Super Bowl.
However, the Giants decided to move away from Barkley in the second half, after he scored two first half touchdowns, and ended up blowing a 19-3 lead. With the loss, the Giants fell to 3-8 on the season, and pretty much ended any chance they had of making a miraculous run towards the playoffs after starting out 1-7.
While Manning has played better in recent weeks, the Giants have to starting thinking about the future at the position, and if they are picking in the top-5, they have to grab Justin Herbert. There has been some rumblings that Herbert will stay at Oregon for his senior year, but after getting injured last weekend, he would be wise to come out early.
With the Giants, Herbert could learn for a year under Manning before having to take over as the starting quarterback in the New York market. He has all the skills to be a good player at the next level, but the Giants still do not have an offensive line, and we have seen what can happen to a rookie behind a bad offensive line this season.
