5 candidates to replace Bill Snyder at Kansas State
1. Seth Littrell, North Texas Head Coach
In concert with their report Snyder is stepping down at Kansas State, 247 Sports pointed to Littrell as the top target to replace him. He’s 23-16 in three seasons at North Texas, with bowl bids in all three campaigns and the possibility of a 10-win season this year.
Littrell is just 40 years old, but he paid his dues as he has worked his way up the coaching ladder. He started as a grad assistant under Mark Mangino at Kansas (2002-2004), then worked under Mike Leach at Texas Tech (2005-2008), before stepping into a coordinator role and calling plays for Mike Stoops at Arizona, Kevin Wilson at Indiana and Larry Fedora at North Carolina. He spent two years as offensive coordinator at Indiana (2012-2013), and the Hoosiers finished second in the Big Ten in total offense both years.
North Texas quarterback Mason Fine is sixth in the FBS in passing yards (3,734), and he’s also top-30 in touchdowns (27; tied for 13th) and passer rating (28th). Overall the Mean Green is 15th in the country in total offense, 11th in pass offense and 22nd in scoring offense.
Littrell was an easily rumored candidate to replace Kliff Kingsbury at Texas Tech, and he’s a darkhorse candidate for at least one other opening. But Kansas State seems set to put themselves at the front of the line if Littrell wants to make a move.
