High Value C

Players costing $6,667 or under

Tristan Thompson (vs TOR – $6,100): Needs 26.9 fantasy points. It was a rough night for the Cavaliers on Friday, but Thompson did have 35.4 fantasy points against the Celtics. I don’t like the matchup because the Raptors frontcourt is among the best in the league and it’s not like Thompson is a dominant force. But he does get minutes and he’s the best frontcourt option on the Cavaliers, which counts for something. Diagnosis: Minutes are there, matchup is rough.

Jarrett Allen (at WAS – $6,000): Needs 26.5 fantasy points. Allen had 39.9 fantasy points against the Grizzlies on Friday. He’s shown a high ceiling all season, but has been prone to be invisible for some stretches. He should not be invisible against the Wizards. Points and rebounds will be there and I expect him to chip in with some defensive plays. Gets plenty of minutes as well, which helps. Diagnosis: High ceiling and good salary. A bit inconsistent.

Jonas Valanciunas (at CLE – $5,500): Needs 24.3 fantasy points. There’s a big drop between Valanciunas and the rest of the centers on Saturday. Valanciunas hasn’t made much of an impact in recent games, but this could be a blowout, which means more minutes for him. He did have 24.9 fantasy points in 20 minutes against the Cavaliers on opening night. Diagnosis: Call him reliable at this salary.
