Werder Bremen face Bayern Munich at Weserstadion on Saturday, Dec. 1. Here’s all the info you need to watch online.
Werder Bremen are seventh in the Bundesliga with 18 points. On Saturday they host Bayern Munich at Weserstadion. Bayern have struggled in their first season under Niko Kovac and enter the weekend in fifth place with 21 points.
Werder were held to a 1-1 draw by Freiburg in their last game. Bremen have not won any of their last four games. In the mid-2000s, Werder were consistently finishing inside of the top four but over the past eight seasons, Werder has not finished higher than eighth. Florian Kohfeldt took over in November last year and has helped turn the club around. Maximilian Eggestein has had a breakout season for Werder scoring four goals this season. While the addition of Davy Klaassen has been brilliant. Werder paid a reduced fee to Everton after Klaassen struggled in his only season at Goodison Park. Klaassen has looked rejuvenated, scoring two goals and playing a key role in creating chances from midfield.
Bayern Munich have not won any of their last three Bundesliga games after blowing a 3-1 against Fortuna Düsseldorf. After 12 games, Bayern trail Dortmund by nine points and will have to go on a long winning streak if they have any hopes of catching their rivals. The recent winless streak has put more pressure on Kovac but Bayern have been hesitant to make changes. Kovac made changes to his starting XI against Benfica in the Champions League, switching to a 4-2-3-1 formation that they played last season. Kovac decided to move Joshua Kimmich from right-back into the defensive midfield with Leon Goretzka. Kimmich originally came to Bayern as a midfield before switching the right-back. While the move makes sense and gives Bayern an aggressive ball-winning presence in midfield, it exposes their lack of depth at full-back. While the move paid off, with Bayern beating 5-1 Benfica behind Robert Lewandowski and Arjen Robben braces, it has yet to be seen if it will be a permanent move.
