Tight End: Matt LaCosse, Denver Broncos- $4,700

Many of you may be reading this and saying who is LaCosse and where did he come from? Don’t feel bad, because I didn’t know much about the Broncos tight end before last week.

Denver defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 24-17 and LaCosse got the Broncos going early. He caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Case Keenum, to give Denver a 10-3 lead in the second quarter. The tight end finished the game with three catches for 34 yards along with his first career score.

LaCosse finished the game with 10.9 fantasy points, a career high and the first time LaCosse finished with double digit fantasy points. The tight end played 27 offensive plays, which equates to 47.4% of the offensive snaps.

Starting tight end Jeff Heuerman  played nearly double the amount of snaps than LaCosse did, but Heuerman suffered broken ribs and a bruised lung in last week’s win. On Monday, the Broncos announced Heuerman will be done for the season.

With Heuerman being out for the rest of the season, LaCosse’s role in the offense will increase. This week, the Broncos travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals. Cincinnati is one of the worst team in the league defending the tight ends.

They have given up 71 receptions, 814 yards and eight touchdowns to the position group. Tight ends have accumulated 166 fantasy points against the Bengals, most in the league. On average they are scoring 15.1 fantasy points per game against Cincinnati.

Last week against the Browns, Cincinnati allowed both of their tight ends to find the end zone. In their last five games, they have surrendered four scores to the position group.

This is a perfect opportunity for LaCosse to show his skillset and it comes against the perfect opponent.
