High Value PG

Players costing $6,667 or under

J.J. Barea (at NO – $5,900): Needs 24.7 fantasy points. Barea was down to 19.9 fantasy points against the Blazers on Tuesday. Don’t be too concerned. He now gets the Pelicans and their dreadful bench unit and defense. This matchup was made for Barea. I’d like to see him get more minutes at this salary, but I’m going to trust him to put up big numbers in the limited minutes he may receive. Diagnosis: Trust him to bounce back given the matchup. The Pelicans are bad defensively and if Barea is in when Davis isn’t, he’ll carve them up.

Derrick Rose (vs CHA – $5,700): Needs 23.9 fantasy points. Rose was down to 10.1 fantasy points against the Rockets. He’s been trending down for a while now, but I can’t help but look at this matchup and his salary and not like him. We know Rose is capable of a big game and he continues to get the minutes. Give him this game before writing him off completely. Diagnosis: He’s earned this matchup and at this salary. A slight risk based on recent play.

Jeremy Lin (vs WAS – $5,500): Needs 23 fantasy points. Lin returned to the lineup after missing a couple of games and finished with 31.5 fantasy points against the Warriors on Dec. 3. He was playing well coming off the bench prior to his injury, as long as the minutes were good. The Wizards don’t play defense and Lin is at a nice salary given his production. Diagnosis: Reliable at this salary with a good matchup and ceiling.
