NFL Week 14 picks against the spread
By Nick Villano
Los Angeles Rams (-3) @ Chicago Bears
This is a matchup we circled on our calendar the second the Chicago Bears traded for Khalil Mack. The LA Rams were going to be a powerhouse, and the Bears had all the makings of a sneaky good team. Now, this matchup is finally here and it’s on Sunday Night Football.
The Bears welcome Mitch Trubisky back into the lineup after coaches played it safe with him the past two weeks. The offense needs him after Chase Daniel had trouble moving the ball. Tarik Cohen has been the only real consistent offensive weapon over the last few weeks. Meanwhile, the defense keeps them in every game.
This isn’t any old game, however. This is the Los Angeles Rams. They now have a chance to take the number one seed for good from the Saints after they lost to the Cowboys. Expect a very good game, but one where the Rams use Todd Gurley to set up the passing game, and really test this Bear defense.
Los Angeles (R) 30, Chicago 21
Minnesota Vikings @ Seattle Seahawks (-3.5)
What happened to this Minnesota Vikings offense? They added Kirk Cousins to a unit that already had Adam Thielen, Stefon Diggs, Dalvin Cook and Latavius Murray. Yet, this team could only score ten points against a Patriots team that allowed 31 points to Blake Bortles and 34 points to the Titans. The defense did its best to keep them in the game, but it was not enough.
The Seahawks, on the other hand, have won three games in a row, two of which were fighting for a playoff spot at the time. They get to play this game in CenturyLink Field, which makes all the difference in the world. These two teams are holding on to the two wild card spots in the NFC, so a loss by either could give an opportunity to the Panthers or Eagles to take those spots.
This game comes down to the Seattle offense against the Minnesota defense. The Vikings offense may not be able to get much done against Seattle on the road, but if their defense can step up they can keep them in this game. This game could make Cousins salary if he is able to will his team to win. He needs to put together a much better performance than he did last week.
