High Value C

Players costing $6,667 or under

Cody Zeller (at NY – $5,200): Needs 23.4 fantasy points. You know what you’re getting from Zeller at this point. He’s hit value in 71 percent of games. He plays big minutes on most nights and just finds a way to chip in. And he’s up against the Knicks. His ceiling isn’t as high as the guys listed below him, but he’s more reliable because of the matchup and his minutes. Diagnosis: Reliable and up against the Knicks.

Jonas Valanciunas (vs MIL – $5,100): Needs 23 fantasy points. Valanciunas has been over 35 fantasy points in his last two games. The Bucks are actually first against the position, so this is a tough matchup. And Jonas isn’t getting guaranteed minutes right now. He can do big damage in few minutes, which helps his cause. Diagnosis: A risk, but a big reward.

Jakob Poeltl (vs UTA – $3,800): Needs 17.1 fantasy points. You can go with Poeltl or Mitchell Robinson in this spot. Both guys are in the same boat as their minutes are not guaranteed, but they’ve been playing well as of late. Poeltl had 31.9 fantasy points in 20 minutes against the Jazz on Dec. 4. But the extra minutes came from the game being a blowout. There is no guarantee that he’ll get those minutes in this game, but maybe his game against the Lakers helps his cause. Diagnosis: Low-cost and maybe he truly has earned extra minutes.
