Gus Edwards, Baltimore Ravens at Kansas City Chiefs

Gus Edwards had to play through an ankle injury in Week 13, but he still managed to grind out 82 rushing yards on 21 attempts against the Atlanta Falcons. Though the injury limited his effectiveness – Edwards averaged 3.9 yards per carry, which was a clear drop-off from his 6.8 and 5.1 averages in Week 11 and 12, respectively – a haul of eight fantasy points isn’t dreadful for someone who isn’t tabbed as a weekly starter in most fantasy leagues.

It’s clear that Edwards is here to stay as a viable fantasy option. He’s entrenched as the Ravens feature back, as the undrafted free agent rookie has looked far more effective on the ground than anyone else to take snaps at running back for the Ravens this season.

Working well with 3-0 rookie signal-caller Lamar Jackson, Edwards will face a Kansas City Chiefs defense that, like the Rams run defense, surrenders 5.1 yards per carry. Edwards is averaging an even 5.0 yards per carry on the season and hit the 115-yard mark in back-to-back weeks before being limited to 82 in Week 13, perhaps due to the ankle injury.

While Edwards hasn’t scored a rushing touchdown since making his starting debut in Week 11, it will be interesting to see if he can get back on the board against a Chiefs defense that has given up 14 rushing touchdowns this year.
