Ty Montgomery, Baltimore Ravens at Kansas City Chiefs

It’s important to mix in a few niche plays, and Gus Edwards’s teammate Ty Montgomery is a possible desperation play for fantasy football owners who are running low on running back options in Week 14.

Montgomery joined the Baltimore Ravens during the trade deadline, as he fell out of favor with the Green Bay Packers after making a costly mistake against the Los Angeles Rams.

The versatile offensive weapon made his Ravens debut in Week 11 against the Cincinnati Bengals but made zero impact for fantasy owners. In Week 12, Montgomery had 64 yards from scrimmage, including 51 rushing yards on eight carries against an atrocious Oakland Raiders run defense.

Montgomery’s role as a rusher fell steeply in Week 13 against the Atlanta Falcons when Kenneth Dixon returned, but he had 55 yards from scrimmage, thanks to five receptions for 42 yards on seven targets.

Likely the team’s primary pass-catcher out of the backfield, Montgomery could still have fantasy value in a run-heavy Ravens offense, even with the less effective Dixon stealing carries from him. Montgomery faces a Chiefs defense that is not only porous against the run but is also allowing more receiving yards per game to running backs than any other NFL team.
