Rashaad Penny, Seattle Seahawks vs. Minnesota Vikings

Chris Carson has been a revelation as the Seattle Seahawks starting running back this season, averaging 70.4 rushing yards per game and 4.5 yards per carry. The 2017 seventh-round pick out of Oklahoma State is coming off of another strong game, too, having totaled 108 yards from scrimmage in a blowout win over the San Francisco 49ers.

However, fans can’t overlook what Rashaad Penny has done in the Seahawks backfield, which has technically boasted three above-average options this season, lately. Penny looked like a disappointment through the first few weeks of the regular season, but the former San Diego State stud just needed some time to get comfortable with the Seahawks offense and the NFL before proving his first-round quality.

Penny has looked like one of the most explosive running backs in the NFL, flashing in several games since November, even with a couple of duds, including four rushing yards on four carries in a narrow Week 12 win over the Carolina Panthers.

In Week 13, Penny ripped off 65 yards on seven carries, with one of those rushing attempts being a 20-yard touchdown. Penny is a risky fantasy play, given Carson’s consistency and usage, but he’s also averaged 5.1 yards per carry this season. It’s possible the rookie will be an X-Factor in Week 14 in a must-win game against the Minnesota Vikings, who most likely represent Seattle’s strongest competition for an NFC Wild Card spot.
