Players costing over $6,667

James Harden (vs POR – $11,500): Needs 47.6 fantasy points. You pretty much know what you’re getting with Harden. He’s going to get numbers because it’s impossible for him to not get numbers in the Rockets system. But he needs a big game to justify the salary and I’m not sure it’s there for him right now. The Rockets just aren’t good. But doubting the reigning MVP feels like a mistake. Diagnosis: High ceiling and typically reliable. Really needs to perform to make him worth your time and there’s more value elsewhere tonight.

DeMar DeRozan (vs PHO – $9,600): Needs 39.8 fantasy points. DeRozan had 54.2 fantasy points against the Jazz on Dec. 9. The scoring numbers are almost always there for him. Same with the rebounds. He just needs to pick up his playmaking again, which is what he’s done in recent contests. The only concern is a blowout because it is the Suns on a back-to-back. Diagnosis: Reliable with a great matchup and ceiling.

CJ McCollum (at HOU – $7,300): Needs 30.2 fantasy points. McCollum had 39 fantasy points against the Timberwolves on Dec. 8. He’s been solid during this stretch and doing more than just score, which has been nice as his value is sometimes largely tied to his scoring. Scoring should not be an issue for him against the Rockets defense. Diagnosis: Reliable at the moment with a good ceiling.
