High Salary PG

Players costing over $6,250

Russell Westbrook (vs LAC – $11,200): Needs 51.4 fantasy points. Westbrook’s scoring has disappeared, but he’s still Westbrook. He’s going to get his numbers. And if he can turn his scoring around in a big way, then his ceiling only goes up. Westbrook is angry and now he’ll have Patrick Beverly hounding him all game. This feels like a huge boom-or-bust game for Westbrook. You never know how those are going to go. But he’ll get his numbers, even to the detriment of the team. Diagnosis: Reliable with a very high ceiling and very low floor.

Kemba Walker (vs LAL – $9,300): Needs 42.6 fantasy points. Kemba had 43.25 fantasy points against the Knicks on Friday. Not great numbers given the matchup. And he might be tired after going to overtime on Friday. But the Lakers are making the trip to the east and that first game is always a bit tough. This just feels like it’s going to be a Kemba-LeBron duel while Michael Jordan is courtside. Diagnosis: A gut feeling. But also fairly reliable.

Kyrie Irving (at DET – $8,900): Needs 40.8 fantasy points. Irving had 45.75 fantasy points in 24 minutes against the Hawks on Friday. Even in limited minutes, he’s putting up strong numbers. His minutes should be up against the Pistons, who I think will make the game more competitive than recent Celtics opponents. But if they don’t, it’s probably because Irving is dancing on them and scoring at will. It’s easy to trust him, especially at this salary. Diagnosis: Love him because I think the game will be competitive.
