Green Bay Packers RB Jamaal Williams

Jamaal Williams used to frustrate fantasy football owners to no end, because former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy would insist on giving him touches at Aaron Jones’s expense, despite the fact that the latter running back looked much better throughout the 2018 season.

Sadly, Jones exited the Packers Week 15 loss to the NFC North leading Chicago Bears with a knee injury. Jones is unlikely to play in Week 16 against the New York Jets, making Williams the undisputed lead back in Green Bay.

In Jones’s absence on Sunday, Williams had by far his best game of the season, as the former BYU star showed ability in the running game and passing game that we didn’t see to this point. Williams carried the ball 12 times for 56 yards and a touchdown (4.6 yards per carry) with an impressive four receptions for 42 yards as a pass-catcher.

The 2017 fourth-round pick will carry that all-purpose role into Week 16 against the Jets, and he could give fantasy owners a good chunk of points, especially with waiver claim Kapri Bibbs being the running back on the depth chart behind him.

Bibbs didn’t make any sort of an impact on the Washington Redskins this season despite having the opportunity to do so, and the Packers probably won’t use him unless they feel desperate. Since Williams played well last week, the Packers will almost certainly give him a full workload in Week 16.
