2019 NFL mock draft: Jaguars land Justin Herbert
By Brad Weiss
The Jacksonville Jaguars are a train-wreck this season, and it has been quite the surprise to most people who cover the team. The Jaguars went into the 2018 NFL season fresh off an appearance in the AFC Championship Game, where they actually held a ten-point lead over the New England Patriots heading into the fourth quarter.
This past weekend, the Jaguars season went from bad, to worse, as they lost in front of their home fans to a Washington Redskins team that was starting Josh Johnson at quarterback. The Jaguars offense was able to muster up only 13 points, losing 16-13, in what could be their worst loss of the season.
Blake Bortles went into the 2018 season under a microscope, and played so poorly, that the team has moved on from him, inserting Cody Kessler as their starting quarterback. That is not the long-term answer at the position, and if the Jaguars are picking in the top-5 next April, you can be sure they are going to get a new franchise guy to put under center.
Enter Justin Herbert from Oregon, who is the best quarterback in this draft class. While Herbert has not yet declared for the NFL Draft, and there are whispers he won’t, he is currently listed on all draft boards, and if he is available, Jacksonville will be waiting with open arms with that No. 5 overall pick.
