The Detroit Lions are pretty bad this season, and after starting the year out as a possible playoff team in the NFC North, they look like the worst team in the division. While they have the talent to be at least a nine-win team, they could not put it all together under first-year head coach Matt Patricia, and will be a team that picks pretty early when the draft rolls around next April.

Patricia came to the Lions after spending his coaching career as the defensive coordinator in New England, so he is not used to watching playoff football from his couch. He has done some nice things in his first season as head coach, but needs to take a serious look at this roster moving forward.

One area where the team needs to get better is up front on defense, and they should look to bring in some good, young talent via the 2019 NFL Draft. Ed Oliver has had a pretty strange last season for the Houston Cougars, but he is by far one of the more elite talents in this draft class, and should be a top-10 pick in 2019.

Oliver could be plugged right in the middle of that Lions defensive line, giving them their best pure talent at the defensive tackle position since Ndamukong Suh. The Lions are not far off from being a playoff team, and as we have seen in the NFC North this season, that division is going to be up for grabs every year.
