1. Adam Ottavino

Ottavino picked a great time to have the best season of his career. He’s hitting free agency at the perfect time to cash in on his brilliant 2018 campaign.

The 33-year-old right hander made an astounding 75 appearances for the Rockies and chalked up an ERA of 2.43 in just over 77 innings pitched. There isn’t a team in MLB who wouldn’t sign up for a repeat of that season.

Of course, there’s no guarantee Ottavino can duplicate that level of success. He’s only one year removed from a campaign where he posted an ugly ERA of 5.06. His inconsistency is going to cause some teams to pause before paying a premium for his services.

The upside of his devastating breaking ball is going to earn him a lot of money though. When he’s commanding his slider Ottavino is virtually unhittable. That tantalizing stuff has certainly caught the eye of the Yankees.

The team’s chances to ink Ottavino still come down to whether or not another team is willing to make him a silly offer. Cashman will not be drawn into a crazy bidding war for a reliever with Ottavino’s track record. He could end up in the Bronx, but don’t expect him to cash in on Cashman.
