High Salary C

Players costing over $6,667

Clint Capela (at MIA – $8,800): Needs 39.6 fantasy points. Capela had 41.4 fantasy points against the Wizards on Wednesday. The Rockets are on a back-to-back, but they are on fire right now and Capela is a big part of that. He’s been good during this run and even though it’s a back-to-back, I’m going to trust him to keep it up. Diagnosis: Reliable with a good ceiling.

Hassan Whiteside (vs HOU – $8,000): Needs 36 fantasy points. The minutes aren’t exactly there for Whiteside right now, but he is putting up solid numbers despite the lack of playing time. He averaged 39.8 fantasy points in two games against the Rockets last season. I’m just not sure he’ll quite get the minutes on Thursday. Diagnosis: Good ceiling, but minutes are an issue given his high salary.

DeAndre Jordan (at LAC – $7,200): Needs 32.4 fantasy points. Jordan has been solid enough over the last few games and did have a monster 49.1 fantasy point effort against the Kings on Dec. 16. This is a revenge game for him and he had 53.1 fantasy points against the Clippers on Dec. 2. I’m a sucker for a good revenge game and even though I typically stay away from Jordan, he’s pulling me in on Thursday. The lack of other options obviously helps. Diagnosis: Trust the revenge game factor.
