AC Milan enter the weekend in fourth place in Serie A ahead of their game Saturday at the San Siro against Fiorentina. The Viola are 10th in the table but are only five points behind Milan.
Despite being in a Champions League spot, the pressure is on Gennaro Gattuso, who could be out of a job if Milan drop out of a top-four spot. Last weekend, Milan and Bologna played a scoreless draw. The draw was the third in four games for Milan, who have picked up only six games in their last five games. Gattuso will have to make a change to his starting XI after Tiemoue Bakayoko was sent off against Bologna and will serve a suspension during the Fiorentina game. Up front, Milan will rely on Gonzalo Higuain to find the back of the net. Higuain leads the club with five goals this season.
Fiorentina picked up their first win since Sept. 30 last weekend, beating Empoli 3-1. The win moved the Viola within five points of Milan. Giovanni Simeone scored and set up another goal against Empoli. The Viola need Simeone to keep scoring goals if they are going to claim a European spot. Marco Benassi has had a strong season, scoring six goals this season, the most of any Fiorentina player.
