FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup – December 22, 2018
High Salary C
Players costing over $6,667
Joel Embiid (vs TOR – $10,500): Needs 47 fantasy points. A lack of minutes has hurt Embiid during this recent stretch. And I worry that his minutes will be down in this game as it’s possible the Raptors don’t play anyone. Maybe that’s good news for the value of Embiid because it means more opportunities, but it’s also possible that the game turns into a blowout or is a letdown for Philly. Diagnosis: If Kawhi plays, take him with confidence. The same goes for Jimmy Butler.
Clint Capela (vs SA – $9,000): Needs 40.3 fantasy points. Capela was down to 30.3 fantasy points in 29 minutes against the Heat. I’m not too concerned largely due to the injury to Chris Paul. With Paul being out, Harden will go to Capela more often. And Capela should be able to take advantage of the Spurs, who are on a back-to-back. Diagnosis: Reliable with a good ceiling.
Deandre Ayton (at WAS – $7,400): Needs 33.1 fantasy points. Ayton was up to 45.6 fantasy points against the Celtics on Dec. 19. He’s been good during this stretch of wins for the Suns (outside of the Mavericks game) and now he gets the undersized and ailing Wizards. Points and rebounds should not be an issue for him on Saturday. Diagnosis: Love him. Expect a big game from him.
