FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup – December 23, 2018
High Value PG
Players costing $6,667 or under
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (at GS – $5,600): Needs 23.5 fantasy points. SAG can be up-and-down because that’s the life of a rookie. But he had 34.4 fantasy points against the Nuggets on Saturday. And he had 33.5 fantasy points against the Warriors on Nov. 12. Both teams are on a back-to-back, which means things will probably get weird. I like SAG’s overall game and think he’s a player who can step up in this big games. Diagnosis: Good ceiling. He’s a guy who isn’t afraid of this moment.
Tyus Jones (at OKC – $3,600): Needs 15.1 fantasy points. This is all about the circumstances. Derrick Rose and Jeff Teague could be out for Sunday’s contest, which means Jones will be the lead point guard for the Timberwolves on Sunday. The matchup is tough, but the Thunder is on a back-to-back and Jones is at such a low salary that he should easily hit value. But given the minutes he’ll play, expect way more. Diagnosis: If Rose and Teague are out, take him with confidence.
De’Anthony Melton (at BKN – $4,100): Needs 17.2 fantasy points. This is all about the circumstances. With the Suns playing a triple OT game on Saturday, it’s likely that they won’t play their starters too many minutes. That means more minutes for Melton. And he’s played well when he’s gotten a chance to produce this season. Trust the circumstances. Diagnosis: I expect good run for him based on the circumstances. If it turns out to be true, he’ll be a big player.
