50. . Defensive Tackle. Houston. Ed Oliver. 5. player

The Detroit Lions have been one of the more disappointing teams in the NFC this season, as they will once again finish in the cellar of the NFC North. While Matthew Stafford is a solid quarterback, the Lions just are not consistent enough to win on a week-to-week basis, and they will miss the playoffs in Matt Patricia’s first season as head coach.

There are plenty of different ways the Lions could go with their first round pick in 2019, which currently stands as a top-5 selection. They may decide to go with an extremely talented defensive  tackle in Ed Oliver, who could end up being their best player at the position since former All-Pro Ndamukong Suh.

Oliver has had a very strange final season with the Houston Cougars, but those issues should not affect his draft status next April. He is a fantastic player, who can not only be a big-time guy against the run, but is also athletic enough to get into the backfield and chase down running backs and quarterbacks.

Detroit has good talent on the offensive side of the ball, but their defense definitely needs some work, especially with the players they have hitting free agency. Oliver may be too good a player to pass up at No. 5, and in Detroit, he would give the Lions fans another hard-hitting defensive tackle that they love so much.
