High Value SG

Players costing $6,250 or under

Evan Fournier (vs PHO – $5,800): Needs 26.5 fantasy points. Fournier has been over 30 fantasy points in his last two games and three of his last four. He’s been very inconsistent this season and has bottomed out too many times for my liking, but it’s a home game against the Suns and he’s playing well. I have to trust him to do a bit of everything given the matchup. Diagnosis: Inconsistent with a high ceiling and good matchup.

Dwyane Wade (vs TOR – $5,100): Needs 23.3 fantasy points. Wade was down to 17.75 fantasy points against the Magic on Dec. 23. He’s inconsistent, but the minutes are typically there. And Wade raises his level in these big games. He had 52.75 fantasy points against the Raptors on Nov. 25. He probably won’t go that high again, but one-game Wade is the scariest player in the league. Diagnosis: High ceiling and good matchup based on Wade’s level, not numbers.

J.J. Barea (vs NO – $4,800): Needs 21.9 fantasy points. Barea is probable, but I’m going to assume he’ll play. The minutes aren’t always there, but the production is strong. He had 25.5 fantasy points in 18 minutes against the Pelicans on Dec. 5. Not only is the Pelicans perimeter defense bad, but their bench is even worse. Diagnosis: Reliable even in limited minutes and a high ceiling.
