High Value C

Players costing $6,667 or under

Jarrett Allen (vs CHA – $6,300): Needs 28.3 fantasy points. Allen can be all over the place and the minutes aren’t always there. But he has a high ceiling and is at a good salary. Plus, the Hornets are a good matchup for him. He should be able to get enough points and rebounds to at least hit value. And if he chips in with blocks, that will only help his value. Diagnosis: Reliable.

Dewayne Dedmon (vs IND – $6,200): Needs 27.8 fantasy points. Dedmon had 26.5 fantasy points in 21 minutes against the Pistons on Dec. 23. It was Vince Carter who made it happen in that game, but you can’t expect that to happen in this one, not against this matchup. If Collins is out, Dedmon will have his hands full with the Pacers frontcourt, but he’s a reliable option at this salary and has shown a high ceiling. The opportunities should increase with no Collins. Diagnosis: Reliable with a good ceiling.

Thomas Bryant (at DET – $5,200): Needs 23.3 fantasy points. Bryant has filled in nicely as the starting center. You can’t expect him to not miss a shot as he did against the Suns in the triple OT game, but he’s providing solid minutes on a team lacking frontcourt options. He should get solid minutes in this game given the matchup. Diagnosis: Reliable.
