Players costing $6,667 or under

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (vs SAC – $5,600): Needs 23.6 fantasy points. SAG was down to just seven fantasy points against the Warriors on Dec. 23. He’s been very up and very gown in recent contests. Hopefully, with some days off, he’ll be back to normal. The minutes are still there and I like his overall game. He had 41 fantasy points against the Kings on Nov. 29. This pace would seem to favor him. I’ll trust him to bounce back. Diagnosis: Inconsistent, but a good matchup and a high ceiling.

D.J. Augustin (vs PHO – $4,800): Needs 20.2 fantasy points. Augustin has not been good during this recent stretch, failing to crack 20 fantasy points in three of his last four games. But it’s the Suns. He had 26.6 fantasy points against them on Nov. 30. And the minutes are typically there for him. I have to trust him in this matchup. Diagnosis: Inconsistent, but it’s the Suns. He’s a risk, but I’ll give him this game.

Tyus Jones (at CHI – $4,400): Needs 18.5 fantasy points. Jones had 22 fantasy points against the Thunder on Dec. 23. He drew the start with injuries to Rose and Teague. If he starts once again, he’s a reliable option at this salary. The minutes will be there and I expect him to do more against the Bulls than he did against the Thunder. He typically plays well as the starter and minutes are never an issue. Diagnosis: Take with confidence if he starts.
