Starting Quarterback Option: Sam Darnold $7,500

There are so many question marks surrounding the quarterback position this week. Drew Brees won’t play very much, while Aaron Rodgers plays a surprisingly tough Lions secondary.

Patrick Mahomes might get a big lead early and rely on the running game. This is when you should dig deep into the rolodex to find your option.

Go with Sam Darnold here. He’s going for $7,500, which is very good for quarterbacks this week. He’s taking on the New England Patriots, who have the 24th ranked pass defense despite employing Stephon Gilmore.

The Jets will be motivated to beat the Patriots to hurt their seeding in the playoffs, and end their season on a good note.

Darnold had his best game of the season last week, breaking 26 points. He’s playing the best football he’s played all season, and will look to build momentum in his sophomore season.

This could end up being a shootout between Darnold and Tom Brady, which will be a fun past, present and future battle.

Backup Quarterback Option: Derek Carr $6,800

This one is thinking a little outside the box, but Derek Carr could be an interesting option this week. The Oakland Raiders are very motivated coming into this game, and Jon Gruden is looking to win.

It’s another QB option playing on a lame-duck team, but we’ve seen him sling it very well in the past.

He’s going up against the Kansas City Chiefs, the second worst secondary in the league. Even with Eric Berry getting healthy, they will likely save him for the playoffs instead of a Week 17 game against the Raiders.

Carr got 24 points a few weeks ago when he last played the Chiefs. He’s been in shootouts before, and he does very well in that format. It’s when things get boring that Carr seems to struggle.

This one won’t be boring and Carr could rack up a ton of garbage points as he tries to prove he’s worthy of getting a shot as the starter in 2019.
