4. Eric Bienemy

Another branch of Andy Reid’s coaching tree, Bienemy is in his first season as Chiefs’ offensive coordinator. Prior to that he was Kansas City’s running backs coach for five seasons (2013-2017), and he held that same post in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings from 2006-2010.

In between NFL stints, Bienemy returned to Colorado (his alma mater) for two seasons (2011-2012) as offensive coordinator. The results weren’t good, as the Buffaloes finished 92nd and 119th in the country in total offense in those years respectively. But working under Reid since then has surely helped Bienemy enhance his knowledge of schemes, game-planning and making adjustments, even without play-calling duties. The success former Chiefs’ offensive coordinator Matt Nagy has had with the Chicago Bears this year stands to work in Bienemy’s favor too.

The Jets may be seeking bigger fish on the head coaching market, or at least someone with experience as a head man. But Bienemy is in line for interviews in this cycle, even if he doesn’t ultimately get a job after just one year as an NFL coordinator, and the Jets should have him on their radar.
