The Suns will be fascinating heading into the draft, perhaps even something of a wildcard or a flashpoint for the rest of the picks. Phoenix is pretty well-stocked in terms of young talent after a fantastic 2018 draft with four rookies playing better than expected in legitimate roles. They could trade this pick for a veteran, trade down to accumulate assets or reach for a point guard, the one position they haven’t filled with a youngster.

That puts a variety of players in the conversation here as we look to the draft six months out. Reddish stands out as the most logical fit, a player any NBA team could use as they try to come up with a defensive answer for the likes of Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo and James Harden. He has prototypical size and physical gifts for a 3-and-D wing in the league today and already looks like an elite shooter, dropping in 36 percent of his 7.3 attempts per game while shooting 78 percent from the line. While the Suns already have Mikal Bridges, Josh Jackson, Kelly Oubre Jr. and T.J. Warren, stockpiling young wings is a proven, successful way to build depth.

Or, Morant could appeal to the Suns if they use the draft to keep throwing darts at the point guard position. Maybe they want more size at power forward and covet Hunter from Virginia. They could go any of several directions, which is what makes the Suns the team to watch in the draft, for now.
