2019 NFL mock draft: Giants take Dwayne Haskins
By Brad Weiss
The Atlanta Falcons were another one of those perennial playoff teams in the NFC who failed to make the playoffs in 2018, and will have a lot of questions heading into the offseason. On Black Monday, the organization fired all of the coaches outside of head coach Dan Quinn, who looks to be a part of the solution moving forward.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Falcons are loaded with talent, though they did struggle at times without star running back Devonta Freeman. Julio Jones had another monster season at wide receiver, and quarterback Matt Ryan showed flashes of the guy who led this team to the Super Bowl only two seasons ago.
The defense was another story, as the Falcons are still lacking good talent on the interior of the defensive line. They need to focus their first round pick in 2019 on the defensive tackle posistion, and Jeffery Simmons from Mississippi State would be a nice grab here with the No. 14 overall selection next April.
Simmons is a guy who is going to be tough to defend at the next level, as he has elite level strength, and good feet for such a big fella. Atlanta has the talent to be back in the playoffs next season, but need to really upgrade at a few spots if they want to get back to the top of the NFC South in 2019.
