2019 NFL mock draft: Giants take Dwayne Haskins
By Brad Weiss
The Kansas City Chiefs put the capper on a terrific 2018 NFL season on Sunday, as they trounced the Oakland Raiders inside Arrowhead Stadium. With the win, the Chiefs not only locked up the AFC West division for the third straight year, but the No. 1 seed in the AFC Playoffs, which means the path to the Super Bowl runs through Kansas City.
A big reason for the Chiefs success this season has been the play of quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who could be headed towards an MVP Award in his first full season as the team’s starter. Mahomes eclipsed the 5,000-yard, and 50-touchdown marks on Sunday, as the Chiefs beat their division rival by the score of 35-3.
While the offense has been stellar in 2018, the defense has not, and that could end up causing them big trouble in the playoffs. The Chiefs will have to put some time into building up the defense this offseason, and they should look to start in the secondary with their first round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
One cornerback who should be available towards the end of the first round is Penn State’s Amani Oruwariye, who is one of the better shutdown corners in this draft class. The Chiefs have struggled against the pass all season long, and if they want to be a legitimate Super Bowl contender, they have to get better on that side of the ball.
