Players costing $6,250 or under

Fred VanVleet (at SA – $5,700): Needs 26.3 fantasy points. Lowry is expected to be out once again. VanVleet continues to underperform as the starting point guard and I’m starting to think he may not be worth it at this point. But it’s a slow night so he gets a mention. The minutes are still there and he typically gives you something, it’s just not enough to justify the salary at the moment. Diagnosis: Risk-based on recent production and the ceiling may not be high enough at the moment. But a lot of people will probably stay away if you want to take a chance.

Derrick White (vs TOR – $4,700): Needs 21.6 fantasy points. White has been over 30 fantasy points in his last three games. The matchup is tough, but he’s playing great right now and doing a bit of everything. As long as he continues down this path, keep taking him. The minutes are still there and he’s hot. Diagnosis: Tough matchup, but red hot and a good salary.

Malik Beasley (at SAC – $4,900): Needs 22.6 fantasy points. Beasley had 42.5 fantasy points against the Knicks on Jan. 1. With Monte Morris going cold, Beasley has stepped up in his place. Gary Harris is going to get more minutes at some point, so keep that in mind. But right now Beasley is getting those minutes and making the most of them. So keep rolling with him. Diagnosis: Reliable, good matchup, high ceiling.
