High Value C

Players costing $6,667 or under

JaVale McGee (vs NY – $6,500): Needs 29.2 fantasy points. McGee has been over 31 fantasy points in both games since he returned from illness. His salary has climbed up to near high salary range, which worries me a little bit. But it’s the Knicks. I’m going to trust the matchup in this one, even with McGee’s higher salary. The Lakers are going to need some kind of spark with all the injuries and McGee has proven that he can be that spark for them. Diagnosis: Salary isn’t great, but the matchup is and his ceiling high.

Alex Len (at MIL – $5,8000): Needs 26.1 fantasy points. Len has been fantastic during this recent run for the Hawks. He’s thriving in these short bursts and seems to have found his role on the Hawks. There’s always a concern that his minutes disappear because he’s Alex Len and he’s been known to have these hot stretches before going invisible. But until I see it, I’m willing to keep rolling with him. Diagnosis: High ceiling, but prone to inconsistencies.

Brook Lopez (vs ATL – $5,600): Needs 25.2 fantasy points. You can just count on Lopez right now. He’s shooting red hot and even if he’s not this hot from beyond the arc, he’s finding other ways to score. Plus, it’s the Hawks. The shots will continue to be there for him and he’s at a good salary. There’s always the risk that he goes cold, but I’m a fan of riding the hot hand. Diagnosis: Red hot and a good ceiling. Typically reliable.
