Joel Embiid (vs DAL – $11,500): Needs 51.9 fantasy points. Embiid has been over 60 fantasy points in three straight games. If Butler doesn’t play, you can take Embiid with confidence. The Mavericks are not a good team on the road and they are on a back-to-back. But if Butler plays, the dynamic is so weird that I don’t know if Embiid will get the touches that he wants to get. The ceiling is obviously very high. Diagnosis: Take with confidence if Butler doesn’t play.

Clint Capela (at POR – $8,600): Needs 38.8 fantasy points. Capela was up to 63.7 fantasy points against the Warriors. The Blazers are a matchup he’s historically struggled against, and Nurkic is playing great right now, but Portland are on a back-to-back, so if they have tired legs, the Rockets will wear them out. And Capela never lacks for minutes or opportunities on Houston. Despite his usual struggles against them, I have a good feeling about him. Diagnosis: Tough matchup, but a high ceiling.

Willie Cauley-Stein (vs GS – $7,300): Needs 32.9 fantasy points. WCS has been down in a big way in his two recent games, but this matchup is too good to pass up on. He had 42.7 fantasy points against the Warriors on Dec. 14. With the Warriors issues at center, I expect WCS to bounce back in this game. I just love this game and trust WCS to produce given the minutes he plays. Diagnosis: He’ll bounce back with a strong performance.
