High Value C

Players costing $6,667 or under

Tristan Thompson (vs NO – $6,100): Needs 27.5 fantasy points. Thompson was up to 27 minutes against the Jazz on Friday, which is a good sign as he works his way back from injury. He should get plenty of minutes in this game with the Pelicans frontcourt. Thompson has produced some big games this season, but he’s also been invisible at times. But the minutes will be there if nothing else. Diagnosis: A risk, but a good ceiling due to his minutes.

Brook Lopez (vs TOR – $6,000): Needs 27.1 fantasy points. Lopez wasn’t good on Friday against the Hawks, but don’t put much stock into that game. The Bucks didn’t need much from anyone and got a lot from everyone. So it limited Lopez’ potential. He should get more minutes and opportunities in this one as the Raptors are not the Hawks. He had 31.2 fantasy points against the Raptors on Dec. 9. Diagnosis: Reliable with a good ceiling.

Kevon Looney (at SAC – $4,500): Needs 20.3 fantasy points. Looney had 28.4 fantasy points against the Rockets on Jan. 3. He typically gets the minutes to contribute and his life is easy with the talent that he plays with. The matchup remains good and maybe he gets more minutes as there were questions about him playing more following the loss to the Rockets. Diagnosis: Reliable with a decent ceiling.
