High Salary C

Players costing over $6,667

Deandre Ayton (vs CHA – $7,900): Needs 35.6 fantasy points. Ayton was down to 13.5 fantasy points in 27 minutes against the Clippers. It’s slightly worrisome, but I have to trust that it was just an off night. He’s been good during the last month or so and typically doesn’t lack for minutes. Plus, it’s the Hornets on a back-to-back. Ayton should have a bounce back performance. Diagnosis: Trust him to be better on Sunday. High ceiling and great matchup.

Hassan Whiteside (at ATL – $7,200): Needs 32.5 fantasy points. Whiteside was up to 49.6 fantasy points against the Wizards on Jan. 4. It was the Wizards, but this is the Hawks. Whiteside is typically all over the place, which has me very concerned about his value on a night to night basis. The matchup is good and we know he has a high ceiling, but he’s inconsistent. Diagnosis: High ceiling, good matchup, but still Hassan Whiteside.

Steven Adams (vs WAS – $7,100): Needs 32 fantasy points. Adams has been a reliable option in recent games. And now he gets the Wizards. This should be an easy matchup for him because everyone is having it easy against the Wizards, especially opposing frontcourt players. Rebounds and defense won’t be an issue and I expect his scoring to tick up given the matchup. Diagnosis: Great matchup and a good ceiling.
