FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup – January 6, 2019
High Salary PG
Players costing over $6,667
Russell Westbrook (vs WAS – $11,800): Needs 50.7 fantasy points. Westbrook found his scoring against the Blazers, but it’s been all over the place this season that I’m not sure I trust it. But the other numbers are typically there. There is concern of a blowout in this one because the Thunder are good at home and the Wizards are still not very good. But even in a blowout, Westbrook is going to put up big numbers. Diagnosis: Unless you think this gets ugly, he should be reliable and obviously has a very high ceiling.
Kemba Walker (at PHO – $8,900): Needs 38.3 fantasy points. Kemba has had some rough games and I don’t trust him all that much on the road, especially in a back-to-back, but it’s the Suns. And there aren’t many other options at point guard on Sunday’s main slate with all injuries. At some point, the lid is going to come off the basket for him because he’s an elite scorer. Diagnosis: Slight risk, but a high ceiling and great matchup.
Trae Young (vs MIA – $6,600): Needs 28.4 fantasy points. Young was up to 35.6 fantasy points against the Bucks on Jan. 4. He’s turned into a slightly reliable option during this recent stretch, especially at this salary. And he’s been very good against the Heat this season, averaging 46.4 fantasy points in two games against them. So maybe this is his matchup? Diagnosis: High ceiling and his game has stabilized into something decent.
