High Salary C

Players costing over $6,667

Joel Embiid (vs WAS – $11,500): Needs 51.8 fantasy points. Pay no mind to the Wizards performance against the Thunder or Steven Adams not taking advantage of the matchup. The Sixers always make an effort to get Embiid the ball and he almost always delivers. If Jimmy Butler is back in the lineup, that could change the dynamic. But this matchup is too good to pass up on and Embiid will dominate. Diagnosis: Slight concern due to the Butler dynamic. But the ceiling is always high for Embiid and the matchup is great.

Karl-Anthony Towns (at OKC – $11,000): Needs 49.6 fantasy points. This could go one of two ways for Towns. Either it’s true that he didn’t like Thibs and responds with a monster game, continuing the roll he was on prior to Thibs getting fired. Or he gets bullied by Adams and the Thunder, who should come out hot after the way they played against the Wizards. There’ no in-between in my mind. Diagnosis: High ceiling and a slight risk. I’m torn on him, but in the end, I’m sticking with him.

Deandre Ayton (vs SAC – $7,800): Needs 35.2 fantasy points. Ayton had 37.8 fantasy points against the Hornets on Jan. 6. Aside from a rough outing against the Clippers on Jan. 4, he’s had no issue getting his numbers recently. And now he gets the Kings on a back-to-back. I always love matchups against the Kings because of their pace. Ayton will be worth your time and money. Diagnosis: Reliable with a high ceiling.
