The Los Angeles Chargers had to settle for a Wild Card berth in the 2019 AFC Playoffs, meaning they had to head east to take on the Baltimore Ravens in a 10am PT start time. Luckily for the Chargers, rookie Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson looked terrible through the first three quarters, enabling the Bolts to get out to a lead that was too much to overcome.

Jackson did his best to overcome it though, as the Ravens were within striking distance to erase a 20-3 fourth quarter deficit. With the win, the Chargers now head to Foxboro to take on the New England Patriots, whose offense presents a completely different set of issues for their defense.

During the 2018 NFL season, the Chargers played very well on the defensive side of the ball, and they absolutely harassed Jackson into making mistakes on Sunday. Guys like Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram are just too good to hold down for four quarters, and with their first round pick in 2019, Los Angeles should bring in some talent to put between them on the defensive line.

During his time at Ohio State, Bosa played with Dre’Mont Jones, an incredibly gifted defensive tackle that would fit perfectly in the Chargers system. If Los Angeles continues to get better on defense, they could go on a nice run over the next few seasons, which should be the end of the Philip Rivers era for the franchise.
