2019 NBA Mock Draft: Is R.J. Barrett right for the Knicks?
Despite a tough loss to Michigan on Saturday, Langford continues to rebound from a difficult start to the season and lead a rebuilding Indiana program on offense. He was a menace scoring the ball against the Wolverines, attacking from all three levels to keep the Hoosiers within single digits most of the contest even with big man Juwan Morgan in foul trouble. Playing off the ball in a secondary playmaking capacity, Langford was able to get open for catch-and-shoot 3s and attack scrambled defenses.
The 19-year-old freshman has legitimate NBA combo guard size and shooting ability. He got to the line six times Saturday, scoring 17 points on 11 shots. It’s tough to stop a guy as big as he is, with a legitimate NBA handle and touch to finish around the basket.
Size and basketball IQ are the two biggest factors that make him an intriguing defensive prospect as well. If he can leverage his physical advantages and ability to read the game to contain opposing ball-handlers, his two-way potential leaps to another level. While Indiana isn’t the best team to move him off the ball as coach Archie Miller has considering their limited point guard talent, it is a perfect situation to be on his own duking it out against Big 10 talent every night.
