The Cincinnati Bengals will go into an NFL season without Marvin Lewis as head coach for the first time since the 2002 season. Lewis was fired by the team after missing out on the playoffs in 2018, and during his career at the helm of the organization, he never won a single playoff game.

Cincinnati still has yet to name a head coach, though the rumor is that the team is leaning towards making Zac Taylor, the Los Angeles Rams quarterback coach their new guy. Taylor is one of the Sean McVay disciples who have become a hot commodity this offseason, and he would welcome in a new Era of Bengals football.

When it comes to the roster, Cincinnati needs a lot of help, and they would be wise to use their first round pick on the defense. One player who should hear his name called in the first round next April is Rashan Gary from Michigan, who is an explosive edge rusher, but is also one of the more versatile defensive linemen in this draft class.

The Bengals play in the AFC North, which should be wide open in 2019, after the Baltimore Ravens won the division, and nearly the entire division finished over .500. Gary is a guy who could be an elite pass rusher at the NFL level, and with so much change expected in Cincy this offseason, he could be a building block for the future.
