2019 NFL mock draft: Kyler Murray lands with Redskins
By Brad Weiss
The Atlanta Falcons were supposed to play a big role in the NFC playoff picture this season, though they just struggled to play consistent football throughout. Quarterback Matt Ryan was without running back Devonta Freeman for most of the entire season, and it affect what the team liked to do on offense.
On defense, the Falcons also struggled to play consistent for four quarters, and they could use an injection of some young talent in the interior of the defensive line. One player who could really help this team moving forward is Dexter Lawrence, who was suspended for the College Football Playoff for the Clemson Tigers.
Despite the suspension, Lawrence should be a top pick in the first round in April, as he has the size, and strength to be a dominant figure on any defensive line. The Falcons have some elite edge rushers on their roster, so adding a player like Lawrence to the middle should make their defensive line that much better in 2019.
The NFC South is loaded with talent, and the New Orleans Saints could be the team to represent the conference in the Super Bowl this season. The Falcons have the talent to get right back in the mix in 2019, and with only a couple holes to fill this offseason, head coach Dan Quinn should have a reloaded roster ready for the summer months.
