Players costing $6,250 or under

Austin Rivers (vs BKN – $5,400): Needs 25.2 fantasy points. Rivers had 26.5 fantasy points against the Grizzlies on Jan. 14. The opportunities will continue to be there for him as the Rockets need offense from someone not named Harden and Rivers is the best option. He gets to run the second unit when Harden sits, which helps his value. This is a matter of circumstances more than anything. Diagnosis: Reliable with a good ceiling.

Terrence Ross (at DET – $4,800): Needs 22 fantasy points. Ross continues to shoot hot and do enough in other areas to where I’m still comfortable taking him. Maybe he cools off at some point — it’s obviously bound to happen — but the Pistons are not a good team and now return home after a long road trip, which could mean tired legs. I like this matchup for Ross. Diagnosis: Good ceiling and hot. But overall streaky.

Jaylen Brown (vs TOR – $4,600): Needs 21.1 fantasy points. I don’t know what to make of Brown’s game this season, but if Marcus Smart is out then Brown will likely draw the start. Kyrie is scheduled to be back which will take away from his game overall but he’ll get plenty of minutes and he’s a guy who has proven he can step up when the pressure is on. And the pressure is definitely on the Celtics right now. Diagnosis: Good ceiling but very inconsistent.
