High Salary SG

Players costing over $6,667

James Harden (at PHI – $14,000): Needs 60.2 fantasy points. Harden had 75.6 fantasy points against the Lakers on Jan. 19. You know what you’re getting from Harden but there are signs that he might be slowing down. Really, there aren’t any signs, but he’s put a lot of milage on his arms and body over the last week or so. The Rockets have played back-to-back OT games, the Sixers have good defenders to bother him and his assist numbers are down. But he’s still James Harden. Diagnosis: I’ll never say “don’t take James Harden.” But I don’t love him in this game.

Donovan Mitchell (vs POR – $8,300): Needs 35.7 fantasy points. Mitchell was down to 36.4 fantasy points against the Cavaliers but his minutes were down in the blowout. This projects to be a competitive game which means Mitchell will be back up to his normal numbers. He’s been excellent during this run for the Jazz with Rubio out of the lineup and I expect it to continue in this one. Diagnosis: Very reliable with a high ceiling.

D’Angelo Russell (vs SAC – $7,900): Needs 34 fantasy points. After a rough game against the Rockets, Russell was back up to 54.9 fantasy points against the Magic on Jan. 18. He’s been very good with LeVert out of the lineup and it should continue in this game given the matchup. It seems like it’s Russell or Dinwiddie or has the big game. And Russell is the far more reliable option of the two. Diagnosis: Fairly reliable with a high ceiling.
