2019 NFL mock draft: Jaguars get Kyler Murray
By Brad Weiss
The Denver Broncos had seen enough of Vance Joseph, their second-year head coach who won only 11 games over the two-year span. In fact, Joseph led the Broncos to back-to-back losing seasons for the first time in 40 years, and even John Elway said that the hire may have been a mistake after firing him.
In Joseph’s place, the Broncos went out and got Vic Fangio, who was a hot commodity after leading the Chicago Bears to a first place finish in the NFC North as their defensive coordinator. He will be taking over a team with some talent on the defensive side of the ball, including elite edge rushers in Bradley Chubb and Von Miller.
Where the Broncos defense needs help is in the middle, and they would be wise to use their top-10 draft pick on a middle linebacker. One player who should hear his name called early in the first round in 2019 is Devin White, a devastatingly good linebacker from the LSU Tigers. He would be perfect playing under Fangio.
When the Broncos are at their best, they have an elite defense, and with an elite defensive coordinator as their head coach, it would make sense to add pieces to that side of the ball. Denver got some great efforts from their young offensive stars in 2018, as guys like Phillip Lindsay and Courtland Sutton emerged, so this is a team to keep a serious eye on in 2019.
