The Cincinnati Bengals turned the page when it comes to their head coach this offseason, as they let Marvin Lewis got. That move ended his 16-year run as the team’s head coach, a run that brought a ton of regular season wins to Cincinnati, but not a single win when it came time for the playoffs.

Maybe Lewis’ message has worn thin in Cincinnati, but as they look for their next head coach, it will be interesting to see what kind of effect they have in year one. Zac Taylor, the quarterback coach for the Los Angeles Rams has been rumored to be the favorite for the job, and he has been linked to former head coach Jack Del Rio as his defensive coordinator.

Taylor is very young, but the hope is that he can have the same kind of impact with the Bengals as Sean McVay did with the Rams. Whoever is the head coach, they need to get better up front on the offensive side of the ball, and a guy like Jawaan Taylor is someone who could step in and be a starter from day one.

The Bengals offensive line was terrible last season, causing Andy Dalton’s season to end via injury, and the team to turn to Jeff Driskel. Running back Joe Mixon had a breakout season in year two, and A.J. Green is still one of the best receivers in the league, but if Dalton has no time, the Bengals are going to struggle once again in 2019.
